Nylon Hose Elbow

A barbed elbow turns a hose run through a right angle in the middle of the run, with no thread at either end. Use it where a hose has to go around a corner, a tank wall or a post, and bending it would kink the line.

Compatibility and fitting

• Clamp both legs with a hose clamp
• Support the elbow so its weight is not carried by the hose ends
• Seal threads with a thread sealing paste or thread tape
• Nylon threads strip more easily than brass: tighten by hand and finish with a light nip, never a long lever
• Check the pressure band for the size you are buying, as it steps down above 50 mm

Elbow or just bend the hose?

Bend it where the hose takes the radius without flattening. Use the elbow where the corner is tighter than the hose is happy with, which is most corners in a confined space.

Will it restrict flow?

Marginally, as any right angle does. Far less than the kink it replaces, which is the comparison that matters.
