About Ball Valves
A ball valve is the simplest reliable shut-off there is: a hollow ball turns 90 degrees to open or block the line, with a handle position you can read across a yard. Types of ball valves we stock
- Brass mini ball valves: 1/8" to 3/4" BSP female-female and male-female for gauges, dosing lines and small air circuits.
- Nickel plated full port valves: female and female BSP with a stainless steel handle for general water and air service.
- Bronze full port valves: heavier bodies for water and marine work.
- 316 stainless steel valves: two-piece and three-piece bodies, the three-piece able to be stripped for seat replacement without removing the valve from the line.
- PVC and glass fibre reinforced valves: corrosion-free bodies for irrigation, fertiliser and mild chemical duty.
- 3-way L port and T port valves: chrome plated brass in bottom entry and side entry, for diverting and blending.
- AGA T handle valves: chrome plated brass with a T handle for confined mounting.
Choosing the right ball valve
- Size: match the BSP thread of the pipe or fitting either side, not the hose bore.
- Material: choose for the fluid and the environment; stainless for chemicals, saltwater and food, plastics for fertiliser and irrigation, brass and bronze for general water, air and oil.
- Bore: full port for pump suction and anything flow-sensitive, reduced bore where cost and weight matter more.
- Body: three-piece where the valve will be serviced in place; two-piece where it is a fit and forget isolation point.
- Handle: a stainless or T handle stands up better outdoors and in wash-down areas than a plated lever.
