About Poly Fittings

Poly fittings are the workhorse of low-pressure water and transfer plumbing: light, rust-free and cheap enough to keep a box of them on the ute. Hose Suppliers Australia stocks a full range of nylon and poly fittings in Brisbane, from 4 mm hose tails to 2 inch BSP sockets and IBC adapters, with trade pricing for volume buyers.

Types of poly fittings we stock

  • Hose tails: nylon hose tail x BSP male, straight and elbow, with 4 mm to 8 mm tails and 1/8" to 1/2" threads; poly hose tail x BSP female and nylon nut and tail x FBSP from 1/2" to 2" for pumps and tank outlets.
  • Hose joiners, elbows and tees: barbed nylon joiners, elbows and tees from 4 mm (1/8") to 50 mm (2"), plus reducing joiners to step between hose sizes.
  • BSP threaded fittings: nipples, sockets, male/female and female/female elbows, female tees, caps and plugs from 1/4" to 2", with reducing nipples, sockets and bushes for changing thread size.
  • Tank fittings: nylon BSP tank fittings from 1/2" to 2" for adding an outlet to a poly tank or drum.
  • IBC (bulky bin) adapters: IBC thread to 1" or 2" BSP, or 2" male camlock, for draining bulk containers.

The same nylon parts are listed in our nylon fittings collection, and push-fit alternatives for caravan and marine water lines are in John Guest fittings.

Choosing the right poly fitting

  • Size: size hose tails by hose inside diameter and threaded ends by the BSP size on the equipment. Where they differ, use a reducing bush or reducing nipple rather than forcing a hose.
  • Thread: everything here is BSP. Male ends are nipples and tails; female ends are sockets, caps and nut-and-tail fittings.
  • Material: nylon suits water, irrigation, sullage and diluted fertiliser. For fuel, oil, hot water or higher pressure move to brass fittings or stainless steel fittings.
  • Pressure: these are low-pressure fittings for gravity, transfer pump and irrigation duty. Check the product page and your pump rating before use.
  • Sealing: use PTFE tape on BSP threads and a hose clamp on every tail.

Poly fittings pair with our layflat hose, grey suction hose and camlocks for pump and tank set-ups. For help matching a fitting to a hose, call the Brisbane team on (07) 3890 3359 or contact us. Irrigation, plumbing and rural suppliers can apply for a trade account for volume pricing.
