About Ducting
Ducting moves air, dust, fume and swarf rather than liquid, so the wall material, the helix and the bend radius matter more than a pressure rating. Types of ducting we stock
- Grey Plastiflex ducting: light PVC ducting with a rigid helix for general extraction, ventilation and fume removal.
- Polyurethane ducting, medium grade: an abrasion-resistant PU wall with a steel helix for sawdust, wood chip, grain and granular material.
- Black rubber air intake ducting: for engine air intake and hot air ducting on trucks, plant and machinery.
- Plastiflex vac hose: G VAC, M VAC and Hi-Vac hose for carpet cleaning, car wash bays and industrial vacuum units.
Choosing the right ducting
- Size: order by inside diameter to match the extractor port or intake spigot, from small workshop sizes up to large extraction runs.
- Material: PVC for clean air and fume, polyurethane where abrasive dust wears a PVC wall out, rubber where heat is the problem.
- Helix: a steel helix resists crushing and can be earthed to bleed static from moving dust; a plastic helix keeps the run lighter to handle.
- Length and bends: every extra metre and every tight bend costs air flow, so keep runs short and sweeping.
