Thread tape is the cheapest part of any fitting job and the first thing to blame when a joint weeps. Hose Suppliers Australia stocks thread sealing tape in the colours the trade asks for, on 12 mm rolls, so plumbers, fitters, irrigators and workshops can keep a spare in every toolbox. All rolls are dispatched from our Brisbane warehouse with Australia-wide delivery.
Thread tapes we stock
- White thread tape: the general purpose roll for water, air and everyday pipe threads.
- Pink thread tape: a denser tape for water lines and larger or coarser threads, and the one available in a 30 m roll.
- Yellow gas tape: the tape marked for gas line thread sealing.
- Silver thread tape: for stainless steel and heavier assembly work where threads tend to gall.
Choosing and using thread tape
- Service: pick the colour that matches the line. Do not use a general purpose roll on gas work.
- Thread type: tape seals tapered threads. A parallel BSP thread needs a washer, O-ring or flat face to seal against.
- Direction: wrap the way the fitting turns so the tape tightens into the thread instead of bunching.
- Coverage: keep the first thread clear so nothing sheds into a valve or pump downstream.
