Types of PVC hose we stock

Choosing the right PVC hose

Size: PVC hose is sized by inside diameter; match it to the hose tail or pump port.
Pressure: unreinforced tube for gravity and drains; braided or helix-reinforced hose for pumped and mains lines.
Suction or delivery: only helix-reinforced suction hose holds its shape under vacuum; layflat and braided hose are for delivery.
Fluid: water, air, oil and food each have a dedicated hose; for fuel, coolant or hot lines look at rubber hoses.
Fittings: finish the job with poly fittings and hose clamps.

What is the difference between clear vinyl tube and braided PVC hose?

Clear vinyl tube is unreinforced and suits gravity feed, drains and low-pressure lines. Braided PVC hose has a polyester braid in the wall for pumped and mains lines such as workshop water, beverage and air, so choose it wherever the line is under pressure.

Which PVC hose do I need for a water pump?

Use grey PVC suction hose between the water and the pump inlet, then layflat hose on the delivery side. Both are sized by the pump port: 25 mm, 38 mm, 50 mm and 76 mm are the common sizes.

Is PVC hose OK for hot water?

Standard PVC hose is for cold and ambient water. For hot wash-down use the hot water wash down hose, and for engine coolant or heater lines use rubber or silicone hose from our automotive range.

How do I connect PVC hose to a tap or pump?

Push a hose tail sized to the inside diameter into the hose and secure it with a hose clamp; poly, brass and stainless tails are stocked. Camlocks suit lines that are connected and disconnected often.

Can I buy PVC hose by the metre?

Yes. Most PVC hoses here are sold cut per metre as well as in full coils, so you can buy exactly the length you need. Tell us the length and we will cut it before dispatch from Brisbane.
