About Hydraulic Hoses

Hydraulic hose is the part of the machine that fails first when it is under-specified, chafed or the wrong size. Types of hydraulic hose we stock

  • Single wire hydraulic hose: one steel wire braid for medium pressure lines on tractors, implements, trailers and workshop equipment.
  • Two wire hydraulic hose: two steel wire braids for the higher pressure circuits on excavators, loaders and truck hydraulics.
  • SAE R6 push-on hose: pushes onto a barbed fitting without a crimp, for low pressure and return lines and quick repairs.
  • HDPE spiral guard: wraps a finished hose to protect the cover wherever hoses rub against each other or the machine.

Choosing the right hydraulic hose

  • Size: hydraulic hose is sized by inside diameter and must suit the fitting; take the size from the layline on the hose you are replacing.
  • Pressure: match or exceed the rating of the hose or the circuit it is going into, and step up from one wire to two wire rather than guessing.
  • Ends: crimped fittings for pressure lines, push-on fittings for low pressure work; send us a photo of the old ends if you are unsure.
  • Routing: allow for the bend radius and for movement of the ram, and add spiral guard anywhere two hoses touch.
