Nylon Hose Tail x BSP Male Elbow

The elbow version of the hose tail turns the hose through 90 degrees as it leaves the port. On a tank outlet or a pump body that is often the difference between a hose that runs cleanly to the ground and one bent hard against the fitting, which is where hose splits.

Compatibility and fitting

• Point the elbow before the final nip so the hose leaves in the right direction
• Size the barb on the hose bore and the thread on the port separately
• Seal threads with a thread sealing paste or thread tape
• Nylon threads strip more easily than brass: tighten by hand and finish with a light nip, never a long lever
• Check the pressure band for the size you are buying, as it steps down above 50 mm

Why not just bend the hose?

Because the bend lands at the barb, which is the most stressed point in the joint. Hose kinked at a tail restricts flow and fails there first, usually in the second summer.

Can I aim it after tightening?

Tighten to seal and stop where it points correctly. Backing a tapered thread off to aim a fitting breaks the seal you just made.
