Description

The 12 mm (1/2") bore is where a single wire line starts carrying real volume: larger cylinders, pump delivery and hoist circuits that need flow more than they need pressure. Working pressure is 2320 psi, the lowest of the three single wire bores we hold, because the wider the bore the less one steel braid can restrain. Seamless synthetic rubber tube, one high tensile steel wire braid, synthetic rubber cover.

Key features

  • Nominal bore 12 mm (1/2")
  • 2320 psi working pressure
  • Single high tensile steel wire braid reinforcement
  • Seamless synthetic rubber tube for oil and water
  • Weather, oil and abrasion resistant outer cover
  • -40°C to +125°C
  • Available at 1 m through 20 m, in 50 m and 100 m coils, and on a 150 m spool
  • Medium pressure water and oil service

Applications

  • Larger cylinders on loaders and backhoes
  • Pump delivery lines on farm and workshop power units
  • Tipper hoist circuits
  • Grain auger and augering attachment drives
  • Bulk oil transfer between reservoir and pump

Compatibility and fitting

  • Fit one wire hydraulic ends and ferrules cut for 12 mm (1/2") hose and crimp them; hose clamps hold nothing at this pressure
  • Match every part of the assembly to 2320 psi or better, since the lowest rated component decides the rating of the whole line
  • Keep the bend radius generous at this bore, and guard rub points with HDPE spiral guard
  • Circuits running above this figure need two wire hydraulic hose
  • Low pressure returns are cheaper in hydraulic push on hose

Single wire or two wire at 12 mm?

Work from the relief valve setting and not the gauge reading, and leave headroom for surge and shock. If the number is anywhere near 2320 psi, buy the two wire hose in the same bore instead; the flow is identical and only the reinforcement changes.

Does the working pressure include a safety factor?

The 2320 psi figure is the working pressure the supplier states, not a burst figure, and it is what the circuit must stay under in service. Surge from a valve slamming shut can be well above steady line pressure.

Compare the 6.4 mm and 10 mm bores in single wire hydraulic hose.
