About Black Rubber Air Intake Ducting
Black rubber air intake ducting is the hose to reach for when plastic ducting keeps splitting. It is built from black synthetic rubber reinforced with a wire helix, with a corrugated outer wall that lets it bend tightly without collapsing. The rubber gives it abrasion resistance against sawdust and chip, and UV resistance for runs that sit outside, across a temperature range of -10°C to 125°C.
Sizes of rubber air intake ducting we stock
- Small bore, 40 mm to 63 mm: engine and compressor intake, small extraction arms and mobile plant.
- Mid bore, 75 mm to 125 mm: the common range for dust extractors, docking saws and workshop drops.
- Large bore, 150 mm to 300 mm: main collection runs, fume extraction trunks and heavy chip lines.

Choosing the right air intake ducting
- Size: measure the spigot outside diameter and order that as the ducting inside diameter, so the hose slides on rather than being stretched over.
- Material: rubber suits abrasive dust, chip and outdoor runs; polyurethane is lighter and clearer where you need to see a blockage.
- Temperature: stay within the -10°C to 125°C range and keep the ducting clear of exhaust and hot flue work.
- Bend radius: the corrugated wall bends tightly, but a supported sweep always flows better than a hard elbow.
- Clamping: use a wide band or bolt-type clamp from our hose clamps range, sized over the helix.
