Camlock Dust Cap Stainless Steel TYPE DC

A dust cap closes off a male adapter. It clips over the adapter using the same cam arms as a coupler, keeping grit, water and insects out of a line standing idle and stopping the last of the contents dripping out between jobs. The 316 stainless cap goes on food and coastal plant, where the cap gets washed down with everything else and must not corrode into the adapter.

Compatibility and fitting

• It fits any Type A, E or F male adapter of the same size.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• 316 tolerates the caustic and acid cleaners used in food and beverage plants
• Keep stainless couplings away from aluminium ones on the same wet line to avoid galvanic attack
• Stainless is heavy at large bores, so support the hose rather than letting the coupling carry it
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Is a dust cap pressure rated?

No. It keeps dirt out and drips in; it is not a blanking cap for a pressurised line. If the line will be pressurised with nothing connected, fit a proper blank.

Is 316 stainless worth it over aluminium?

In food areas, salt air or chemical service, yes, and it is usually a specification rather than a choice. In dry general industrial use aluminium does the same job for less, so match the grade to the environment.
