About Clear Vinyl Tube
Clear vinyl tubing is the flexible, unreinforced PVC tube used wherever you need to see what is moving through the line. Hose Suppliers Australia stocks twelve sizes from 3 mm to 50 mm in fixed lengths, 30 metre coils and full spools, so a workshop can buy a few metres and a fabricator can buy the reel.
Sizes of clear vinyl tube we stock
- 3 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm and 8 mm: small-bore tube for dosing lines, washer lines, sight lines and instrument connections, available on 100 and 200 metre spools.
- 10 mm and 12 mm: the general-purpose sizes for drains, overflows and low-pressure feed, on 75 and 50 metre spools.
- 16 mm, 20 mm and 25 mm: pump and tank feed lines, condensate lines and appliance drains.
- 32 mm, 38 mm and 50 mm: large-bore gravity drain and overflow runs, supplied in coils up to 30 metres.
If the line has to hold pressure or resist collapse, step up to clear braided PVC hose with a polyester braid, or a wire helix hose from the wider PVC hose range. For small engine fuel work, clear yellow Tygon hose handles petrol where plain vinyl will not.
Choosing the right clear vinyl tubing
- Size: sizes are the inside diameter, so measure the outside diameter of the barb or spigot the tube pushes onto.
- Pressure: unreinforced tube suits gravity, drainage and low-pressure feed only. Anything pumped or pulled under vacuum needs a braid or a helix.
- Temperature: PVC softens as it warms and stiffens in the cold, so keep hot water and steam lines on rubber hose.
- Compatibility: this is a general-purpose tube, not a food grade hose. Use the food and beverage hose range for drink and food transfer.
- Fittings: secure the tube over a barbed tail with a small worm-drive or spring clamp sized to the tube outside diameter.
