About Automotive Hoses
Automotive hose fails at the point it was never specified for: coolant hose used on fuel, a soft silicone wall cut by the wrong clamp, an intercooler join sized by eye. Hose Suppliers Australia stocks radiator hose, heater hose, fuel line and transmission cooler hose as separate, correctly specified ranges, cut to length from our Brisbane warehouse so the right hose goes on the right circuit.
Types of automotive hose we stock
- Blue silicone radiator and intercooler hose: 25 mm (1") to 125 mm (5") straights in 250 mm, 500 mm and one metre lengths for coolant and boost piping. See the full radiator and intercooler hose range.
- Blue silicone heater hose: 6 mm (1/4") to 25 mm (1") for cabin heater and small coolant circuits, in the silicone heater hose range.
- Automotive fuel hose SAE30R7: 5 mm (3/16") to 12 mm (1/2") for carburettor feed and return lines, sold by the metre or on a 50 metre coil.
- Auto transmission cooler hose: 8 mm (5/16") to 12 mm (1/2") nitrile hose for gearbox oil cooler lines.
- Rubber heater and radiator hose: standard black rubber coolant hose cut by the metre, in our rubber heater hose range.
Choosing the right automotive hose
- Size: measure the outside diameter of the pipe or outlet, then order that as the hose inside diameter. Do not size from the old hose, which has usually stretched.
- Fluid: fuel, coolant and transmission fluid each need a different tube compound. Never substitute one for another.
- Temperature: silicone suits sustained under-bonnet heat; standard rubber suits cooler runs away from the manifold and turbo.
- Pressure: boost piping and cooler lines see far more pressure than a heater circuit, so check the rating on the product before you commit.
- Clamping: match the clamp to the hose wall, not just the diameter. Our hose clamps range includes T-bolt and non-perforated band clamps for silicone.
