12mm Drinking Water Hose

This is a drinking water hose rather than a general PVC hose, and the difference is the compound: a white polyolefin that will not impart a taint to the water, conforming to AS/NZS 2070 for plastics in food contact. It is made for the fresh water lines in caravans, boats and RVs, where the same water sits in the hose between trips. Nominal inside diameter is 12.5 mm with a 17.1 mm outside diameter, and the working pressure is 1 MPa (145 psi) at 20°C.

Is PVC hose safe for drinking water?

Ordinary PVC garden and pressure hose is not made for it and can taint the water. This hose is polyolefin, not PVC, and conforms to AS/NZS 2070 for plastics in food contact, which is the standard to look for on a potable line.

Why is it listed as 12 mm when the bore is 12.5 mm?

12 mm is the trade size; the published nominal bore is 12.5 mm with a 17.1 mm outside diameter. It fits standard 12 mm caravan and marine water fittings.
