12mm John Guest Plug

Part JGPM0812R is a 12 mm push fit plug: a stub of acetal that goes into a spare port or the open end of a run and closes it. It seats in seconds and comes back out when the line is wanted again, which is what makes it the honest way to cap a leg you have not built yet.

Plug or shut off valve?

A plug closes a port and stays closed until it is pulled out. A 12 mm shut off valve leaves the line connected and turns flow on and off with a lever. Use a plug for a leg that is not needed, a valve for one that is needed sometimes.

Can a plugged port be reopened later?

Yes. Push the collet in, draw the plug out and the port is live again, which is why a spare tee leg is worth leaving in a caravan layout rather than cutting the branch out entirely.
