20mm Purple Sullage Hose PVC Pressure Type

PHPE20 is the 20 mm purple sullage hose, a reinforced PVC pressure hose rather than a plain drain line, so it will hold up on a pumped grey water outlet as well as a gravity fall. The lilac ribbed cover is the trade colour code for reclaimed water, which is why site inspectors and caravan parks look for it. Working pressure is 1.6 MPa (232 psi) at 20°C, built to a 4:1 safety factor, and the hose conforms to AS/NZS 2554 Class B.

Compatibility and fitting

• Fits a 20 mm hose tail or camlock tail; see camlock fittings and hose clamps
• The ribbed cover takes dragging over gravel better than a smooth drain hose
• For a lighter, unpressurised waste line use PVC marine and RV drain hose

Why use a pressure hose for waste water?

Because a pump on the outlet puts the line under pressure the moment it runs. A plain drain hose is not rated for it and will balloon at the tail; this one is rated 232 psi with a 4:1 safety factor.
