25mm Purple Sullage Hose PVC Pressure

25 mm is the size most caravans use for the main grey water outlet, and PHPE25 is the hose people mean when they ask for sullage hose by name. It is a pressure type construction: a smooth black PVC bore, high tenacity polyester yarn reinforcement and a purple UV stabilised ribbed cover, rated 1.6 MPa (232 psi) at 20°C to a 4:1 safety factor. That rating is why it also ends up on concrete trucks and batching plants carrying reclaimed water.

Why is sullage hose purple?

Lilac or purple is the recognised colour for reclaimed and non-potable water in Australia. Using it for grey water makes the line obvious on a busy site and keeps it from being confused with a drinking water hose.

Is 25 mm the bore or the outside?

The bore. A 25 mm sullage hose slips over a 25 mm tail; the ribbed outer sits proud of that, so size clamps to the hose rather than to the fitting.
