Description
A T port three way valve does more than switch: the T shaped drilling through the ball lets it feed two outlets at once or bring two lines together into one, as well as selecting between them. This is the bottom entry pattern in chrome plated brass, where the stem runs up through the base of the body and keeps the assembly short between ports. Seven sizes, BVTP10BE at 10 mm through BVTP50BE at 50 mm.
Key features
- T port ball: two ports can be open together
- Bottom entry stem for a compact body
- Nickel plated brass body with a chrome plated brass ball
- PTFE seats
- Stainless steel handle and hardware
- Cold working pressure 2500 kPa, maximum temperature 150 degrees C
Applications
- Manifolds where two supplies are combined into one line
- Mixing points on water and air service
- Bringing a second outlet on without shutting the first
- Plant and workshop flow distribution
Compatibility and fitting
- Three BSP threaded ports, in 10, 12, 20, 25, 32, 40 and 50 mm
- Brass adaptors to suit the port sizes sit in brass fittings
- If the job is to send flow one way or the other and never both, choose the L port valve instead
- Handle and nut are stainless steel rather than plated steel
T port or L port?
An L port has a right angle drilling, so the inlet reaches one outlet at a time and the valve works as a selector. A T port has a T shaped drilling, so on top of selecting it can share flow between two outlets or combine two lines into one. Buy the T port when something has to be fed together, not alternately.
What does bottom entry change?
Only where the stem enters. Bottom entry runs it up through the base rather than in through the side, which the supplier lists as the compact arrangement, and it matters when the valve has to sit inside a fixed manifold spacing. Side entry valves are the alternative when the base is not accessible.
Both patterns are listed in ball valves.
