316 S/S Disc Butterfly Valve

A butterfly valve with a cast iron body and a 316 stainless steel disc, for isolating or regulating flow in larger pipelines where a ball valve of the same bore would be an unreasonable lump of metal. Quarter turn operation, seven sizes covering 50 mm to 200 mm: BUTFLY050 through BUTFLY200.

Can a butterfly valve throttle flow?

Yes, within reason, and it is one of the reasons the pattern is used on larger lines. The disc sits in the flow at whatever angle you leave it, so the valve will hold a part open position in a way a gate valve is not meant to. The supplier lists this one for isolating or regulating flow.

Plain or lugged: which do I need?

Plain if the valve simply sits in a run that stays assembled. Lugged T/E if you want threaded lugs so it bolts to a flange on its own and one side of the pipework can come off for maintenance. The lugged range also covers 250 mm and 300 mm, which this one does not.
