38mm Clear Vinyl Tube

38mm clear vinyl tube (part CVT38) is one of the largest clear bores available, for gravity drainage and bulk decanting where flow is high and pressure is effectively nil. The tube is unreinforced virgin PVC with a light blue tint, so the line stays soft, bends easily and lets you see exactly what is moving through it.

• Nominal inside diameter 38mm, outside diameter 45.8mm
• Working pressure 0.2 MPa (29 psi) at 20°C
• Operating temperature -5°C to +60°C
• Clear with a blue tint, so flow and blockages are visible
• Virgin PVC conforming to AS/NZS 2070 for plastics in food contact, and EU RoHS compliant
• Good chemical resistance and a moderate level of UV protection
• Supplied cut to length or as a full coil (15 m and 30 m)

Compatibility and fitting

• Sizing is by inside diameter: 38mm tube fits a 38mm barb or spigot
• Secure with a hose clamp or crimp ferrule sized to the 45.8mm outside diameter
• Warming the end in hot water makes it far easier to push onto a tight barb
• For pressure work choose a reinforced hose from the PVC hose range rather than unreinforced tube

Why is the pressure rating so low?

The wall thickness does not grow in step with the bore, so the larger sizes hold much less pressure. At 38 mm this is a gravity and low head transfer tube, not a pressure line.
