Description
50mm clear vinyl tube (part CVT50) is the largest clear vinyl tube we stock, used almost entirely for gravity drainage and bulk transfer where the volume is high, the pressure is low and being able to see the line running matters. The tube is unreinforced virgin PVC with a light blue tint, so the line stays soft, bends easily and lets you see exactly what is moving through it.
Key features
- Nominal inside diameter 50mm, outside diameter 60mm
- Working pressure 0.2 MPa (29 psi) at 20°C
- Operating temperature -5°C to +60°C
- Clear with a blue tint, so flow and blockages are visible
- Virgin PVC conforming to AS/NZS 2070 for plastics in food contact, and EU RoHS compliant
- Good chemical resistance and a moderate level of UV protection
- Supplied cut to length or as a full coil (15 m)
Applications
- Large gravity drains
- Bulk tank emptying
- Brewery and winery transfer
- Wash bay and plant drainage
- Effluent and process lines
Compatibility and fitting
- Sizing is by inside diameter: 50mm tube fits a 50mm barb or spigot
- Secure with a hose clamp or crimp ferrule sized to the 60mm outside diameter
- Warming the end in hot water makes it far easier to push onto a tight barb
- For pressure work choose a reinforced hose from the PVC hose range rather than unreinforced tube
Is it flexible at this size?
It is flexible for its bore, but 50 mm unreinforced tube is heavy and will flatten if bent tightly or driven over. Route it in long sweeps and keep it off traffic areas.
Other bores from 3 mm to 50 mm are in the clear vinyl tube range.
