Description

An AGA rated shut-off valve for approved gas installations, with a female BSP thread at each end so it drops into an existing run between two nipples. The body is nickel plated brass, the ball is chrome plated brass on PTFE seats, and the cast alloy T handle gives you something to grip where a lever would foul the pipework. Four part numbers: BV10YTH, BV12YTH, BV20TH and BV25TH.

Key features

  • AGA rated for regulated gas service
  • Female x female BSP threaded ends
  • Nickel plated brass body, chrome plated brass ball, PTFE seats
  • Cast alloy T handle for positive operation
  • Cold working pressure 2500 kPa
  • Gas temperature rating up to 60 degrees C
  • Sizes 10 mm, 12 mm, 20 mm and 25 mm

Applications

  • Gas installations that require AGA approval
  • Appliance and meter isolation on a gas run
  • Water and air service lines
  • Shut off points in workshop and industrial pipework

Compatibility and fitting

  • Both ends female, so a male BSP thread has to be presented on each side
  • Pair with male BSP nipples from brass fittings
  • Where the run already offers a female port, the male to female AGA valve in 12, 20 and 25 mm saves a nipple
  • The 60 degrees C gas rating is separate from the 150 degrees C carried by the general service chrome plated brass valves

What does AGA rated mean on a ball valve?

It means the valve is approved for regulated gas service, which is what an inspector looks for on a gas installation. It is also why the temperature figure on this valve is 60 degrees C on gas rather than the higher number the same body style carries on water and air.

Why a T handle rather than a lever?

A T handle turns within the footprint of the valve instead of sweeping an arc, so it suits a riser boxed in against a wall or crowded by neighbouring pipe. The cast alloy handle is also less inviting to knock open by accident than a long lever.

The rest of the range is in ball valves.
