Description

The male to female version of the AGA rated T handle valve. One end screws straight into a female port and the other presents a female BSP thread, which takes a nipple and a joint out of a tight gas run. Nickel plated brass body, chrome plated brass ball on PTFE seats, cast alloy T handle. Three part numbers: BV12MFTH, BV20MFTH and BV25MFTH.

Key features

  • AGA rated for gas service
  • Male x female BSP threaded ends
  • Nickel plated brass body with a brass stem
  • Chrome plated brass ball with PTFE seats
  • Cast alloy painted T handle, mild steel nut
  • Cold working pressure 2500 kPa
  • Maximum gas temperature 60 degrees C
  • Three sizes: 12 mm, 20 mm and 25 mm

Applications

  • AGA approved gas installations
  • Appliance and meter isolation
  • Water and air service lines
  • Industrial shut off points in tight spaces

Compatibility and fitting

  • The male end goes into a female port; the female end takes a male nipple
  • Nipples for the female end: brass fittings
  • Where both sides of the run present male threads, the female to female AGA valve covers 10 mm to 25 mm
  • The nut here is mild steel, not the stainless steel used on the general service full port valves

Which way round does an M&F valve go?

The male end screws into the female port you already have, and the female end faces the next fitting. Ordering the wrong gender means an extra nipple and a union to correct it, so check the port before you order rather than after the valve arrives.

Why is the gas rating only 60 degrees C?

That is the temperature the AGA rating covers for gas service on this valve, alongside a 2500 kPa cold working pressure. The general service chrome plated brass valves in the same range are published at 150 degrees C, but that figure does not carry across to an approved gas installation.

The gas rated and general service valves are listed together in valves.
