Camlock Dust Plug Aluminium TYPE DP

A dust plug closes off a female coupler. It pushes into the coupler and the cam arms lock down onto it, protecting the gasket and sealing face from grit while the line is not in use. A scored gasket is the usual reason a camlock joint weeps. The aluminium plug is the general industrial choice, protecting couplers on pumps and transfer lines between jobs.

Compatibility and fitting

• It fits any Type B, C or D female coupler of the same size.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Aluminium is soft: do not lever a stuck coupling with a bar, or the arms bend and the joint never seals again
• Avoid pairing aluminium with stainless on a wet line, where galvanic corrosion will eat the aluminium
• Check the compatibility chart for both the aluminium body and the NBR gasket before use
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Why bother plugging a coupler?

Because the gasket sits exposed in the mouth of the coupler. One piece of grit trapped against it and the next joint you make will leak, usually at the worst moment.

Will aluminium handle my chemical?

Check the compatibility chart before committing. Aluminium covers water, oil, powders and many hydrocarbons, but some chemicals attack it. Where the chart is marginal, move to 316 stainless or polypropylene.
