Camlock Dust Plug Stainless Steel TYPE DP

A dust plug closes off a female coupler. It pushes into the coupler and the cam arms lock down onto it, protecting the gasket and sealing face from grit while the line is not in use. A scored gasket is the usual reason a camlock joint weeps. The 316 stainless plug suits food, beverage and marine installations, where the plug is cleaned as often as the coupler it protects.

Compatibility and fitting

• It fits any Type B, C or D female coupler of the same size.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• 316 tolerates the caustic and acid cleaners used in food and beverage plants
• Keep stainless couplings away from aluminium ones on the same wet line to avoid galvanic attack
• Stainless is heavy at large bores, so support the hose rather than letting the coupling carry it
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Why bother plugging a coupler?

Because the gasket sits exposed in the mouth of the coupler. One piece of grit trapped against it and the next joint you make will leak, usually at the worst moment.

Is 316 stainless worth it over aluminium?

In food areas, salt air or chemical service, yes, and it is usually a specification rather than a choice. In dry general industrial use aluminium does the same job for less, so match the grade to the environment.
