FBSP x Male Aluminium Camlock - TYPE A

A Type A camlock is a male adapter on one end and a female BSP thread on the other, so it converts a threaded male outlet into a cam and groove connection. In aluminium it is the everyday choice on fuel, oil and water plant, where the fitting has to be light on the arm and cheap enough to replace when a tanker driver drops one.

Compatibility and fitting

• It couples to a Type B, C or D female coupler, and is capped by a dust cap when not in use.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Aluminium is soft: do not lever a stuck coupling with a bar, or the arms bend and the joint never seals again
• Avoid pairing aluminium with stainless on a wet line, where galvanic corrosion will eat the aluminium
• Check the compatibility chart for both the aluminium body and the NBR gasket before use
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

What is the difference between Type A and Type F?

Both are male adapters. Type A has a female thread, so it screws onto a male outlet. Type F has a male thread, so it screws into a female port. Work out which thread your equipment presents and pick the opposite.

Will aluminium handle my chemical?

Check the compatibility chart before committing. Aluminium covers water, oil, powders and many hydrocarbons, but some chemicals attack it. Where the chart is marginal, move to 316 stainless or polypropylene.
