Hose Tail x Male Aluminium Camlock TYPE E

A Type E camlock is a male adapter on a hose shank, and it is the most common hose end of the lot. Fitted to a delivery hose it drops into any female coupler on site. Aluminium is the default hose end across bulk transfer and site water, cheap enough to carry spares and light enough not to punish the hose it hangs off.

Compatibility and fitting

• It couples to a Type B, C or D female coupler, and is protected by a dust cap.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Aluminium is soft: do not lever a stuck coupling with a bar, or the arms bend and the joint never seals again
• Avoid pairing aluminium with stainless on a wet line, where galvanic corrosion will eat the aluminium
• Check the compatibility chart for both the aluminium body and the NBR gasket before use
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Type C or Type E on the end of my hose?

Whichever mates with what you are connecting to. Site convention usually puts male adapters on hoses and female couplers on plant, which makes Type E the default hose end and Type C the exception.

Will aluminium handle my chemical?

Check the compatibility chart before committing. Aluminium covers water, oil, powders and many hydrocarbons, but some chemicals attack it. Where the chart is marginal, move to 316 stainless or polypropylene.
