Description

A Type E camlock is a male adapter on a hose shank, and it is the most common hose end of the lot. Fitted to a delivery hose it drops into any female coupler on site. The 316 stainless version goes on food, beverage and chemical transfer hose, and on anything working in salt air where an aluminium adapter would pit.

Key features

  • Sizes 20 mm to 100 mm (20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 65 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm)
  • Cam and groove Type E, male adapter with a hose shank
  • 316 stainless steel, the marine and food grade
  • NBR (Buna) gasket rated to 100°C
  • Approved in food industry service as well as water, oil and powders
  • Survives salt air, wash down chemicals and repeated steam cleaning
  • Connects and disconnects by hand in seconds, with no tools

Applications

  • Delivery and transfer hose ends
  • Tanker discharge lines
  • Wash down and rural water hose

Compatibility and fitting

  • It couples to a Type B, C or D female coupler, and is protected by a dust cap.
  • Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
  • 316 tolerates the caustic and acid cleaners used in food and beverage plants
  • Keep stainless couplings away from aluminium ones on the same wet line to avoid galvanic attack
  • Stainless is heavy at large bores, so support the hose rather than letting the coupling carry it
  • Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Type C or Type E on the end of my hose?

Whichever mates with what you are connecting to. Site convention usually puts male adapters on hoses and female couplers on plant, which makes Type E the default hose end and Type C the exception.

Is 316 stainless worth it over aluminium?

In food areas, salt air or chemical service, yes, and it is usually a specification rather than a choice. In dry general industrial use aluminium does the same job for less, so match the grade to the environment.

Every type and material is in camlock fittings.
