Hosetail x Female Poly Camlock

A Type C camlock is a female coupler on a hose shank, which makes it the lever end fitted directly to a hose. Push it on, clamp it, and the hose couples to any matching male adapter in seconds. The poly version is the low cost hose end for water, waste and irrigation, and the sensible choice on hire equipment that will get lost before it wears out.

Compatibility and fitting

• It couples to a Type A, E or F male adapter, and takes a dust plug to keep the gasket clean.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Polypropylene will not corrode, but it will not take being dropped or driven over the way metal does
• Keep it out of direct sun for long periods, and off lines running near the gasket's 100°C limit
• Do not over lever the arms: poly flexes where metal would hold
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

How is the hose shank secured?

With clamps, and on anything carrying pressure use two. A single clamp on a large bore suction hose is the usual reason a coupling blows off under load.

How does poly compare on strength?

It is lighter and completely corrosion proof, but it will not take the abuse or the temperature that metal will. Use it for water, waste and rural work; use metal where the coupling gets dropped, dragged or run hot.
