Hosetail x Male Poly Camlock

A Type E camlock is a male adapter on a hose shank, and it is the most common hose end of the lot. Fitted to a delivery hose it drops into any female coupler on site. The poly version suits water, waste and rural transfer, and is the one to fit where the hose end gets dropped in mud and hosed off rather than looked after.

Compatibility and fitting

• It couples to a Type B, C or D female coupler, and is protected by a dust cap.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Polypropylene will not corrode, but it will not take being dropped or driven over the way metal does
• Keep it out of direct sun for long periods, and off lines running near the gasket's 100°C limit
• Do not over lever the arms: poly flexes where metal would hold
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Type C or Type E on the end of my hose?

Whichever mates with what you are connecting to. Site convention usually puts male adapters on hoses and female couplers on plant, which makes Type E the default hose end and Type C the exception.

How does poly compare on strength?

It is lighter and completely corrosion proof, but it will not take the abuse or the temperature that metal will. Use it for water, waste and rural work; use metal where the coupling gets dropped, dragged or run hot.
