John Guest Black Tube

Black John Guest tube, part JPE12100E, is 12 mm LLDPE that has been UV stabilised. That is the single reason to pick it over the blue or the red: it will take a run along a drawbar, over a roof or across an open pump bay where sunlight would otherwise work on the wall of the tube.

Compatibility and fitting

• Black is stocked in 12 mm only; a 15 mm line takes the blue or red tube instead
• Sleeve the cut end with a 12 mm tube insert before it goes into a collet
• A locking clip holds the joint on a chassis run that never stops moving
• Adaptors take it onto threaded pipework at 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch BSP
• A 12 mm saddle fixes the tube to a frame or panel

Why choose UV stabilised tube?

Because an unprotected polyethylene line degrades in direct sun. Where the plumbing is buried in a cabinet the colour makes no difference; where it is out in the weather on a trailer or a tender, the stabilised black tube is the one specified for the job.

Is black tube approved for drinking water?

John Guest publishes it as non-contaminating, FDA compliant and NSF International certified, the same certification the rest of the LLDPE range carries. It is stocked alongside the caravan plumbing fittings that suit it.
