MBSP x Female Aluminium Camlock TYPE B

A Type B camlock is a female coupler with a male BSP thread, so it screws into a female port and puts the lever end of the joint on the fixed side. The aluminium version is the standard fit on pump housings and transfer manifolds in general industry, light enough that the coupler is not hanging its own weight on the port thread.

Compatibility and fitting

• It accepts a Type A, E or F male adapter, and takes a dust plug when open.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Aluminium is soft: do not lever a stuck coupling with a bar, or the arms bend and the joint never seals again
• Avoid pairing aluminium with stainless on a wet line, where galvanic corrosion will eat the aluminium
• Check the compatibility chart for both the aluminium body and the NBR gasket before use
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Should the coupler or the adapter be on the fixed side?

Convention puts the female coupler on the fixed plant and the male adapter on the hose, so the hose can be dropped and swapped quickly. Type B suits that arrangement where the plant has a female port.

Will aluminium handle my chemical?

Check the compatibility chart before committing. Aluminium covers water, oil, powders and many hydrocarbons, but some chemicals attack it. Where the chart is marginal, move to 316 stainless or polypropylene.
