MBSP x Female Poly Camlock

A Type B camlock is a female coupler with a male BSP thread, so it screws into a female port and puts the lever end of the joint on the fixed side. The poly version is for water, effluent and rural tanks, where corrosion is the enemy rather than pressure, and where a metal coupler in a fertiliser line would not last.

Compatibility and fitting

• It accepts a Type A, E or F male adapter, and takes a dust plug when open.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Polypropylene will not corrode, but it will not take being dropped or driven over the way metal does
• Keep it out of direct sun for long periods, and off lines running near the gasket's 100°C limit
• Do not over lever the arms: poly flexes where metal would hold
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Should the coupler or the adapter be on the fixed side?

Convention puts the female coupler on the fixed plant and the male adapter on the hose, so the hose can be dropped and swapped quickly. Type B suits that arrangement where the plant has a female port.

How does poly compare on strength?

It is lighter and completely corrosion proof, but it will not take the abuse or the temperature that metal will. Use it for water, waste and rural work; use metal where the coupling gets dropped, dragged or run hot.
