Nitto Air Coupling Female x MBSP

The female socket half of a Nitto style coupling with a male BSP thread behind it, so it screws into a female threaded outlet and turns it into a quick connect point. Sizes are 20SM at 1/4", 30SM at 3/8" and 40SM at 1/2". Sockets on the fixed side is the usual arrangement in a repair bay, because the socket shuts off when nothing is plugged in.

Why put the socket on the fixed side?

Because the socket holds the air when nothing is connected. Mount sockets at the wall, the reel or the manifold and the hose you unplug is not left pressurised and thrashing about.

Female x MBSP sounds contradictory. Is it?

No. Female describes the coupling half and MBSP describes the thread, so this is a female socket with a male BSP thread on the back. Read the two halves of the name separately and the part is unambiguous.
