Nylon Hose Tee

A hose tee splits a run into two, or brings two lines into one, with a barb on all three legs. It goes into the middle of a hose run rather than onto a threaded port, which is exactly what an irrigation take off usually needs.

Compatibility and fitting

• Clamp all three legs; three barbs means three hose clamps
• For a threaded branch use the nylon BSP female tee instead
• Seal threads with a thread sealing paste or thread tape
• Nylon threads strip more easily than brass: tighten by hand and finish with a light nip, never a long lever
• Check the pressure band for the size you are buying, as it steps down above 50 mm

Does the branch have to match the run?

No. A reducing tee lets a smaller branch leave a larger run, which is what most irrigation take offs actually are.

How much pressure will it take?

Up to 1600 kPa at 20°C for sizes to 50 mm, the same as the rest of the range. In practice the clamps and the hose set the real limit.
