Poly Camlock Dust Cap

A dust cap closes off a male adapter. It clips over the adapter using the same cam arms as a coupler, keeping grit, water and insects out of a line standing idle and stopping the last of the contents dripping out between jobs. The poly cap is the low cost option for water and rural lines, and the one to fit where caps get lost faster than they wear out.

Compatibility and fitting

• It fits any Type A, E or F male adapter of the same size.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Polypropylene will not corrode, but it will not take being dropped or driven over the way metal does
• Keep it out of direct sun for long periods, and off lines running near the gasket's 100°C limit
• Do not over lever the arms: poly flexes where metal would hold
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Is a dust cap pressure rated?

No. It keeps dirt out and drips in; it is not a blanking cap for a pressurised line. If the line will be pressurised with nothing connected, fit a proper blank.

How does poly compare on strength?

It is lighter and completely corrosion proof, but it will not take the abuse or the temperature that metal will. Use it for water, waste and rural work; use metal where the coupling gets dropped, dragged or run hot.
