Poly Camlock Dust Plug

A dust plug closes off a female coupler. It pushes into the coupler and the cam arms lock down onto it, protecting the gasket and sealing face from grit while the line is not in use. A scored gasket is the usual reason a camlock joint weeps. The poly plug is for water, effluent and irrigation couplers, cheap enough to fit to every idle port on a farm rather than just the important ones.

Compatibility and fitting

• It fits any Type B, C or D female coupler of the same size.
• Sizes must match: a 50 mm coupler only takes a 50 mm adapter
• Polypropylene will not corrode, but it will not take being dropped or driven over the way metal does
• Keep it out of direct sun for long periods, and off lines running near the gasket's 100°C limit
• Do not over lever the arms: poly flexes where metal would hold
• Matching hose is in the rubber hose and PVC hose ranges

Why bother plugging a coupler?

Because the gasket sits exposed in the mouth of the coupler. One piece of grit trapped against it and the next joint you make will leak, usually at the worst moment.

How does poly compare on strength?

It is lighter and completely corrosion proof, but it will not take the abuse or the temperature that metal will. Use it for water, waste and rural work; use metal where the coupling gets dropped, dragged or run hot.
