Poly Check Valve

A poly bodied one way valve for irrigation lines, tank outlets and general water transfer, where the corrosion resistance of a non metallic body counts for more than the weight and cost of brass. Five sizes are stocked, CVP20 at 20 mm through CVP50 at 50 mm, BSP threaded at both ends.

Compatibility and fitting

• One way flow, so it goes in with the flow and not against it

• Where the line also needs debris protection, the poly check valve strainer covers the same 20 mm to 50 mm sizes
• In brass, the swing check runs 12 mm to 100 mm and the York spring check 10 mm to 65 mm

Poly or brass check valve?

Poly for outdoor and agricultural lines where a metal body degrades, and where hanging a heavy brass valve off a poly fitting is a problem in itself. Brass where the line is indoors, hotter, or simply bigger: the brass swing check reaches 100 mm and the poly stops at 50 mm.

Does a check valve hold prime the way a foot valve does?

Only for the section above it. A foot valve sits at the bottom of the suction line with a strainer and keeps the whole column charged. A check valve part way along the run stops backflow but lets everything below it drain away.
