Standard Compression Male Connector

The male connector (Brass No. 3) takes a tube onto a male BSP thread, which is the arrangement most female ports on pumps, valves and gauges present. It seals on the tube with a nut and olive at one end and on the thread at the other.

Compatibility and fitting

• The male thread screws into a female port; if your port is male you want the No. 10 female connector
• The compression end takes a nut and olive sized to the tube, not to the thread
• Fit a spigot inside nylon tube and on high pressure joints
• Seal tapered threads with tape or a sealant rated for the fluid
• Brass into brass strips easily: tighten to seal, not to a hard stop
• Do not mix thread standards: a fitting cut to a different standard will start, feel tight and then weep

Male connector or female connector?

Look at the equipment. A female port takes this male connector. A male thread sticking out takes the No. 10 female connector. The connector is always the opposite of the port.

Does the tube size have to match the thread?

No, and assuming it does is the usual ordering mistake. A 1/4 inch tube can carry a 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch thread; read them separately.
