T-Bolt Clamp Stainless Steel

A T-bolt clamp is what you fit when a worm drive clamp is not enough. Instead of a screw pulling a slotted band, a T-bolt clamp uses a bolt and nut across a solid band, which lets you apply far more clamping force without distorting or stripping. It is the standard choice for turbo and charge air joints, large diameter rubber hose, and anything that vibrates.

Compatibility and fitting

• Size the clamp on the outside diameter of the hose once it is on the spigot, not on the bore
• Seat the clamp behind the bead or barb so it cannot pull off under pressure
• Tighten to the hose manufacturer's torque; a T-bolt will happily crush a soft hose if you keep pulling
• Pairs well with silicone hose, where a perforated band would bite into the softer wall

T-bolt or worm drive?

Worm drive is fine for general water, air and low pressure work. Choose a T-bolt where the joint carries boost, sees heavy vibration, or is on hose big enough that a worm drive screw would strip before the joint sealed.

Will it damage a silicone hose?

Not if it is sized and torqued correctly. The rolled edge and smooth underside are there precisely to spread the load, which is why T-bolt clamps are the usual specification on silicone charge air joints.
