Swing Check Valve Brass

A brass swing check valve uses a hinged disc that forward flow pushes open and reverse flow swings shut. There is no spring to push against, so the head lost across an open swing check is low, which is what puts it on gravity lines and long suction runs. BSP threaded, nine sizes from SCBR012 at 12 mm to SCBR100 at 100 mm.

Why choose a swing check over a spring check?

Low resistance. The hinged disc opens on flow alone, so it costs less head than a spring loaded valve, which counts on a gravity line or a long suction run. The trade is closing speed: the spring check shuts faster the moment flow stops.

How large does the brass range go?

100 mm, part number SCBR100, which is the largest check valve stocked in brass. The York spring check stops at 65 mm and the poly check at 50 mm, so above those sizes this is the valve to look at.
