Description

A fuel tank has to breathe, and the breather is the fitting that lets it do so without letting water in. These sit flush on the exterior of the boat and the pipe faces up, which is what keeps water out of the vent line when the deck is wet. They are supplied in chrome and 316 grade stainless, with a rubber gasket included, in three hose sizes.

Key features

  • Flush exterior mounting, with the pipe facing up to prevent water entering the line
  • Chrome and 316 grade stainless finishes
  • Rubber gasket included
  • Three hose sizes: 12 mm, 16 mm and 20 mm
  • FB12S and FB16S are the straight versions
  • FB1290R, FB1690R and FB2090R are recessed with a 90 degree angle
  • The 20 mm size is offered for greater venting capacity

Applications

  • Petrol and diesel tank vent lines
  • New tank installations and fuel system refits
  • Replacing a corroded or leaking vent fitting
  • Larger tanks that need more venting capacity than 12 mm allows

Compatibility and fitting

  • Choose the breather to match the vent hose: 12 mm, 16 mm or 20 mm
  • Recessed 90 degree versions suit a topsides position; straight versions suit a flatter mounting
  • Fuel filler and vent hose is in fuel filler hose
  • Deck fillers to match are in skin fittings and marine products
  • Clamp the vent hose to the tail with a stainless band from the clamp range

Why does the vent pipe face upwards?

So water running across the topsides cannot fall straight into the fuel line. The fitting sits flush for a clean exterior, but the internal pipe turns up, and that turn is the part doing the work.

Which size should I fit?

Match the vent hose already on the tank, or step up to the 20 mm size where the tank fills quickly and the smaller vent cannot pass air fast enough.
