Tru Design Vented Loop

A vented loop is what stops sea water siphoning back down a toilet or bilge line when the boat sits low or heels over. The Tru Design loop does that with a silicone duckbill valve, which breaks the siphon by letting air in and does not perish or harden the way a sprung valve eventually does. Three sizes are stocked, 20 mm, 25 mm and 38 mm, as parts VL20, VL25 and VL38.

• Holding tank discharge runs near the waterline

• Engine raw water systems where the loop sits above the load waterline

Compatibility and fitting

• Mount the loop above the heeled waterline; below it, a vented loop cannot do its job
• Match the loop bore to the hose: 20 mm, 25 mm and 38 mm are the same three bores as the sanitation hose range
• Sanitation hose to suit is in white marine sanitation hose
• Through-hull fittings and sink wastes are in skin fittings and marine products
• Clamp each connection with stainless bands from the clamp range

Why a duckbill valve instead of a bronze loop?

The silicone duckbill is chemically unaffected by diesel, petrol and toilet cleaning chemicals, and the body does not develop the green film that similar bronze fittings do. It also holds a constant internal diameter, so it does not throttle the line it protects.
