Stainless Steel Cap

A cap closes off a male thread. It is female inside and blank at the top, so it goes over a nipple, a valve stub or an unused male port and shuts it. Ten sizes in 316 stainless, 1/4" through to 3", each carrying a maximum working pressure of 150 psi.

Applications

• Capping a spare outlet on a manifold or a tank
• Sealing a line for a pressure test before commissioning

Compatibility and fitting

• Fits over any male BSP thread of the matching size
• To blank a female port instead, use a hex plug
• Cap a spare leg of a female tee until the branch is needed

Cap or plug?

A cap is female and goes on the outside of a male thread. A plug is male and goes into a female port. Look at the port you are closing, not at the fitting: a male stub takes a cap, a threaded hole takes a plug.
