About Fire Reel Hose
Fire reel hose is the tough, thin-wall PVC hose fitted to fire hose reels in workshops, factories, warehouses and rural sheds. Fire reel hose sizes we stock
- 20 mm fire reel hose: the common reel size, supplied in 20, 36 and 100 metre rolls.
- 25 mm fire reel hose: a larger bore for higher flow, supplied in 20 and 100 metre rolls.
Choosing and fitting fire reel hose
- Size: measure the existing hose bore and the tail on the reel drum before ordering, since most reels are built around 20 mm hose.
- Length: buy a roll that matches the drum capacity rather than joining offcuts, because a join will jam in the guide rollers.
- Pressure: reel hose is a delivery hose, not a suction hose, so it should never be pulled by a pump inlet.
- Compatibility: check the nozzle and reel tail connection before ordering, and replace hardened or cracked hose rather than patching it.
- Servicing: a reel that forms part of a building's fire system must be maintained by a qualified fire services contractor.
