10mm (3/8") Blue Silicone Heater Hose

10mm (3/8") blue silicone heater hose (part SILHH10) is a common heater and bypass size on cars and light commercials, and a frequent choice for replacing perished factory rubber with something that will not go hard and split in a few seasons. Silicone holds its properties through heat cycling where rubber hardens and splits, which is why it is specified on vehicles and plant that cannot afford a coolant failure.

Compatibility and fitting

• Sized on inside diameter: 10mm hose fits a 10mm spigot or outlet
• Use a smooth band or T-bolt clamp from the clamp range; silicone is softer than rubber and a perforated band can bite the wall
• For fuel lines use SAE 30R7 fuel hose, not silicone
• Matching silicone clamp kits are in the silicone hose range

How long does silicone last against rubber?

Silicone does not harden and crack the way rubber does with heat cycling and ozone, which is the usual failure mode on a heater line. That is why it is specified on machinery where a coolant failure means downtime.
