Description

SAER606 covers the 10 mm (3/8") bore, the size most often used for case drains on hydraulic motors and for return lines that never see pump pressure. It holds the same 28 bar (400 psi) maximum as the smaller bores. A textile braid rather than steel wire keeps it light and easy to route, and the tube is oil resistant synthetic rubber.

Key features

  • Bore of 10 mm (3/8"), stocked as SAER606
  • Rated to a maximum of 28 bar (400 psi)
  • One textile braid, not steel wire
  • Oil resistant synthetic rubber tube
  • Synthetic rubber cover: weather, oil and abrasion resistant
  • -40°C to +100°C, with air limited to +70°C
  • 1 m to 20 m cut, plus 50 m and 100 m coils and a 150 m spool

Applications

  • Case drain lines from hydraulic motors
  • Gravity and low pressure return lines
  • Diesel and oil transfer around a workshop
  • Air drops to bench tools
  • Coolant and washer feeds on plant

Compatibility and fitting

  • Push it onto a 10 mm push on barb; the barb holds the hose without a ferrule or a press
  • A case drain must stay within the motor's back pressure limit, which is usually far below 28 bar (400 psi)
  • Never fit this hose to a pressure line: use single wire hydraulic hose or two wire hose there
  • Where a return line rubs on a frame, sleeve it in HDPE spiral guard

Can SAE R6 hose be used on a pressure line?

No. One textile braid is not a substitute for a steel wire braid, and the 28 bar (400 psi) ceiling is a fraction of what a pump delivers. R6 belongs on returns, drains, suction and transfer duties.

What happens if a push on hose is oversized?

It blows off the barb, usually under a pressure spike rather than at rest. Match the hose bore to the barb size exactly and push it fully home against the shoulder.

Compare the seven sizes in SAE R6 push on hose.
