Description
150 mm is the first of the trunk bores, the size that carries the combined flow of several branches back to a collector. At this diameter a duct that collapses under suction costs the whole system, so the wire helix earns its place: it holds the bore open while the fan pulls, and the corrugated rubber wall bends around structure without folding flat. Scope is dust, chip, air intake and non combustible fume extraction.
Key features
- 150 mm bore
- Black synthetic rubber wall over a wire helix
- Corrugated exterior for flexibility on a main run
- Temperature -10°C to 125°C
- Abrasion resistant to chip and grit, UV resistant outdoors
- DRFH150, cut from 1 m to 9 m, or a 10 m coil
Applications
- Main collection runs on workshop extraction
- Fume extraction trunks
- Dust collector inlet spools
- Heavy chip lines from multiple machines
- Large air intake and ventilation runs
Compatibility and fitting
- 150 mm ducting is bored to fit a 150 mm spigot
- Clamp in a corrugation valley with a band from the clamp range; a crest-mounted clamp works loose
- Support a trunk this size along its length rather than hanging it off the joins
- Lighter ventilation trunks are covered by grey Plastiflex ducting
How do I size a main run?
Add the airflow of the branches that will actually run at the same time. Most workshops run one or two machines at once, and sizing the trunk for every machine together buys duct that never earns its keep.
Why rubber on a trunk line?
Because everything the branches throw ends up in it. The trunk sees the most material and the most hours, and rubber keeps its wall where PVC thins out on the bends.
Larger trunk sizes run to 300 mm in black rubber air intake ducting.
