25mm PVC Water Suction Hose Grey

This is the hose that goes between the water and the pump on a small transfer or fire-fighting set. A rigid PVC helix is moulded into the 25 mm (1") wall, so the bore stays round when the pump pulls a vacuum instead of folding flat the way a layflat or garden hose does. Outside diameter is 31.9 mm and the wall is rated 0.9 MPa (130 psi) at 20°C, the highest in the grey range. SKU PSHG025, supplied in 20 m coils.

Compatibility and fitting

What makes this different from an ordinary PVC hose?

The helix. A plain hose has nothing to resist vacuum and shuts flat on a pump inlet. The rigid PVC spiral in this wall keeps the bore round so the pump draws full flow.

Can it be used on the discharge side as well?

Yes. It is rated 0.9 MPa (130 psi) at 20°C, so it works either side of the pump. The reverse is not true: a delivery hose cannot be used for suction.
