38mm Clear Wire Helix Food Suction Hose

Thirty-eight millimetres is the bore most beverage plant is built around, and this is the transparent version of it: 47 mm outside diameter, a steel wire helix through the wall and a smooth clear bore you can inspect without stripping the line. Why does a suction line need the helix at 38 mm?

The bigger the bore, the more force the vacuum applies to the wall. A 38 mm unreinforced hose closes almost instantly on a pump inlet. The steel helix wound into this wall holds the bore round, which is the whole difference between a suction hose and a delivery hose.
